abstract

to study the relation between hypertension and noise exposure, after the noise monitoring is weaving and spinning workshops, a especially designed questionnaire was completed and measurement were made of blood pressure, height and weight of 1801 male and female workers employed in these workshops. the results indicated that the systolic and diastolic pressure had a direct relation with age and indirect relation with the pondoral index on the other hand sex had relation with diastolic pressure. multiple regression analysis was made to eliminate the effect of age, sex and pondoral index. the result showed that the diastolic pressure in weavers were higher than the spinners. this fact probably is due to significant different between noise levels in these workshops. Noise exposure and risk of hypertension: a cross-sectional study

Abstract   Background: Previous studies have indicated an unspecific correlation between noise   exposure and blood pressure disturbances. Blood pressure disturbances could be caused   by the environmental hazards such as noise exposure. The aim of this study is to analyze   whether there is a relationship between noise exposure and hypertension.   Methods: Atotal sample of 218 workers workin...

Hypertension and Exposure to Noise near Airports (HYENA): Study Design and Noise Exposure Assessment

An increasing number of people live near airports with considerable noise and air pollution. The Hypertension and Exposure to Noise near Airports (HYENA) project aims to assess the impact of airport-related noise exposure on blood pressure (BP) and cardiovascular disease using a cross-sectional study design. We selected 6,000 persons (45-70 years of age) who had lived at least 5 years near one ...

Noise exposure and hypertension: investigation of a silent relationship

BACKGROUND Noise is an important occupational hazard worldwide and hypertension a well-known risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which is currently the greatest cause of disability retirement worldwide. The association between noise exposure and auditory effects is well documented in the biomedical literature, but the same is not true about exposure to different levels of noise and extra-au...

Hypertension and Exposure to Noise Near Airports: the HYENA Study

BACKGROUND An increasing number of people are exposed to aircraft and road traffic noise. Hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and even a small contribution in risk from environmental factors may have a major impact on public health. OBJECTIVES The HYENA (Hypertension and Exposure to Noise near Airports) study aimed to assess the relations between noise from ai...

Occupational exposure to noise and hypertension in pilots.

The role of occupational exposure to noise as a hypertension risk factor has not been established sufficiently. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether chronic exposure to different levels of noise in two groups of pilots, operating with two types of aircraft, could be a risk for hypertension, what relevance the parameters (intensity, duration and type) of exposure can have and, lastly, whe...
